KUALA LUMPUR: The prosecution on Tuesday applied to the High Court to change the amount of money in three out of 25 charges faced by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in connection with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, due to recent testimonies of two witnesses.
"As for the 21 money laundering charges, the prosecution wanted to amend the 10th charge which Najib was accused of committing by transferring money from unlawful activities, by reducing the amount involved from RM652.6mil to RM515.7mil. "We submit that during the course of the trial, the prosecution can amend and lead evidence to the said amendments."The amendment to the charge does not have the effect of changing the nature of the offence or having the effect of opening up a new trial.
