KUALA LUMPUR: Prolonged"half-baked" Covid-19 lockdowns caused the destruction of the nation's finances and the lives of the rakyat, says Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Although not mentioning specific names, Najib is believed to be referring to former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the"Father of Malaysian Lockdown", owing to the implementation of several movement control orders during his administration. He also noted that RM600bil in allocation spent by the government over the last one and half years was inadequate to help the rakyat.
On a separate note, Najib also suggested the government award the High-Speed Rail project to the Employees Provident Fund and Permodalan Nasional Berhad as means to ensure better returns to contributors.
