PETALING JAYA: Learned professionals are asking the International Trade and Industries Ministry to consider all its professions as essential services and allow them to practise in Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia president Abu Zarim Abu Bakar said in a statement on Monday it welcomed the announcement of legal firms being recognised as essential services, and being allowed to operate with effect from June 29.

“This is because professional services are very much essential services, and the uncertainties about the indefinite extension of Phase One of the NRP will cause severe damage to businesses and the economy," he added.
