The person in charge of the department, Nora Musa, said arrangements are being made for those affected to have a place to sleep starting midnight Oct 21.
“For those in the workers' quarters and their families, this is not much of a problem but for those living outside, we have to quickly prepare their accommodation like camps and beds among other amenities, ” she said when contacted. “We are following instructions from the Health Ministry to get all these prisoners and wardens tested, ” Nora said.
Asked if the Prison Department needed anything during this period, she said it would be helpful if anyone wishes to donate personal protective equipment or even the materials to sew PPEs.She also said personal hygiene products such as soap, shampoo, masks, sanitisers and even packed food are needed for the use of all prisoners and wardens affected by the enhanced MCO.Sabah Law Society president Roger Chin said they are trying to raise funds to help the Prison Department in this sense.
