Pompeo warns China over US journalists in Hong Kong

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has warned China to not interfere with the work of US reporters in Hong Kong, the latest escalation between the two countries amid souring relations. – EPA pic, May 18, 2020.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo yesterday warned China against interfering with American journalists working in Hong Kong, in an escalating row between the two countries over press freedom and other issues. “It has recently come to my attention that the Chinese government has threatened to interfere with the work of American journalists in Hong Kong,” Pompeo said in a statement.
