Ketua Polis Terengganu, Mazli Mazlan, berkata pemeriksaan terhadap lori berkenaan menemukan 76 peti mengandungi karton rokok dipercayai diseludup masuk melalui negara jiran untuk pasaran di pantai barat tanah air. “Sebelum serbuan dibuat, pasukan telah melakukan intipan terhadap lori yang sengaja ditinggalkan dan mendapati tiada sesiapa datang menghampiri.
Menurutnya, ahli sindiket sengaja meninggalkan lori berkenaan di tepi jalan bagi mengelak terperangkap dalam sekatan jalan raya.
