MELAKA: The Melaka Water Regulatory Body (BKSA) has lodged a police report against two catfish breeders at Hutan Percha in Alor Gajah following ammonia pollution in the Batang Melaka river.

State Transport, Works and Public Amenities Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sofi Abdul Wahab said BKSA views the April 28 incident as a"critical situation" after water supply to 18,076 consumers in Alor Gajah was abruptly disrupted.

It also caused closure of the Gadek Water Treatment Plant. Earlier, Chief Minister Adly Zahari warned that operators of industries, agricultural and fishing activities will face serious consequences if similar pollution recurs.
