Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ayob Khan said that 39 have contacted their families or even the police directly, asking to be brought home.
He said that the police are working to bring the Malaysians home but the process takes time as it involves coordinating with various quarters."The men will be arrested and questioned. As for the women and children, it will depend on their cases because they had to follow their husband . DCP Ayob was speaking to reporters after attending an annual buka puasa dinner function at the hotel with 122 former militants and detainees, along with their families, who have since rejoined society.
"We visit them regularly and they can contact us if they are facing any problems, financially or employment-wise. We will try to help them. The goal is to make sure they do not fall through the cracks and become isolated," he said.
