Police detain 8 Myanmar migrant workers at wholesale market

Police say they also detained the ‘tekong’ in this morning’s raid on Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, August 17, 2022.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Yahaya Othman said a local man, believed to be the “tekong” who brought in the migrants, was also detained in the operation conducted by police, Kuala Lumpur City Hall , the Immigration Department and National Anti-Drug Agency. Yahaya said police also arrested 18 foreigners who tested positive for drugs, following checks on 400 migrants.
