The Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books says payments went through proper procedures. FMTNews

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books said it had no knowledge about the source of payments it received for sales and publication of books, after it was named as one of 80 recipients of moneys linked to 1MDB.

The government translation agency said in 2011, it received payments of RM365,000 and RM610,000 for publication of books on behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Prime Minister’s Department.ITBM said that it had given statements to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on the transactions in July and August 2018 as well as in July this year.

“However, there was no feedback or further action. Until today, ITBM has yet to receive any official notice on the matter from MACC and is ready to provide further explanation if required,” said ITBM. Yesterday, MACC slapped compound notices on 80 companies, individuals, organisations and political parties, hoping to recover RM420 million purportedly from 1MDB.

The anti-graft body gave them two weeks to pay the fine under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
