DHAKA: Pil generik pertama keluaran Pfizer bagi merawat jangkitan Covid-19 sudah mula dijual di farmasi Bangladesh Sabtu lalu, iaitu dua hari selepas pengawal selia ubat-ubatan meluluskan bagi kegunaan kecemasan.
Khamis lalu, Ketua Pengarah Pentadbiran Ubat-Ubatan negara itu memberikan kebenaran penggunaan kecemasan kepada kedua-dua pil tersebut. Ketua Pegawai Operasi Beximco, Rabbur Reza berkata, pihaknya mula menjalankan proses pembangunan produk tersebut sebaik sahaja melihat kejayaan kombinasi ubat Pfizer bagi merawat virus sejak awal tahun lalu.
Pil baharu bernama Paxlovid adalah gabungan rawatan oral bagi individu yang mempunyai simptom sederhana dan berisiko tinggi menjadi lebih teruk akibat Covid-19.Namun, negara seperti Bangladesh yang dikategorikan sebagai kurang membangun tidak terikat dengan peraturan paten tersebut dan mereka boleh menghasilkan lebih banyak pil versi generik dengan harga berpatutan.
