Naib Presidennya, Datuk Ewon Benedick berkata, PH Sabah mesti menjiwai sentimen dan semangat kenegerian untuk membolehkan mereka bersaing lebih baik dengan blok atau gabungan politik lain.
“Ini pandangan peribadi saya dan selagi saya menjadi sebahagian daripada kepimpinan UPKO, ini akan terus menjadi pandangan yang saya akan kemukakan kepada rakan-rakan dalam blok-blok politik di negeri ini. “Walau bagaimanapun, perkara ini perlu diperhalusi dan dibincangkan di peringkat pimpinan PH Sabah terutama menjelang pilihan raya negeri akan datang,” katanya selepas merasmikan Mesyuarat Agung Tritahunan UPKO semalam.
Katanya, bukan hanya PH Sabah, semua gabungan politik di negeri ini juga seharusnya diterajui parti-parti tempatan.
