PETALING JAYA: The Pakatan Harapan cost of living committee says it supports opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s call for RM1,500 in monthly aid for B40 households during the movement control order.

Speaking at a virtual presentation on Wednesday, PKR president Anwar mooted monthly cash aid of RM1,500 for those in the “B60” category, which he defined as comprising people in the B40 and the lower half of the M40. He also said current forms of direct government aid were mere “gimmicks”. The committee, which met to discuss the government’s Pemulih economic stimulus package announced on Monday, said the government could have taken bolder action to ease the people’s living costs.

It also called on all state governments to provide similar allocations for all state representatives in a fair and justly manner, and urged the government to enable automatic moratoriums without interest.
