Presiden PKR Anwar Ibrahim berkata, beliau terpaksa menjelaskan perkara sebenar kerana Dr Mahathir mendakwa PH menolaknya sebagai perdana menteri.
“Bila mereka memutuskan tidak menyokong Mahathir sebagai perdana menteri dan , kita minta Tun Mahathir mempengerusikan mesyuarat majlis presiden PH malam itu , beliau enggan sebab beliau bukan lagi dalam PH. Anwar berkata demikian ketika berucap pada satu acara mingguan di kediaman dekat Segambut di sini, dengan harapan penjelasan mengenai kronologi sebenar perkembangan yang berlaku sebelum ini tidak disalah erti.
Mahathir sebelum ini menyalahkan presiden PKR itu sebagai punca beliau tidak dilantik sebagai perdana menteri ke-8.“Anwar memang dia gila-gila nak jadi PM, dia tak boleh jadi pasal entah macam mana kalau dulu ramai sokong dia, sekarang ini ramai sokong saya.” kata Mahathir.
