Pertandingan anjuran Tourism Malaysia itu, mendapat kebenaran Majlis Keselamatan Negara dengan kerjasama Majlis Daerah Mersing dan Tourism Johor.Juara akan membawa pulang wang tunai RM35,000.00, naib juara dan ketiga .Pengarah Kanan Bahagian Domestik dan Acara Tourism Malaysia, Datuk Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar berkata, pertandingan itu mampu meningkatkan imej Mersing sebagai daerah pelancongan sekali gus meningkatkan industri pelancongan domestik.
"Justeru acara memancing seperti TMST2020 ini sedikit sebanyak membantu industri, khususnya hotel, homestay dan peniaga. Menurut Dr Ammar, pelaksanaan acara ini bakal menyaksikan penganjur menetapkan penjarakan antara peserta ialah dua meter ketika memancing. Justeru, penganjur akan membuka kawasan memancing sepanjang 2.4 kilometer bagi menampung peserta.
