PENDANG: Pesawah di empat buah kampung di sini mendakwa mengalami kerugian RM100,000 selepas sawah mereka ditenggelami banjir ekoran hujan lebat sejak beberapa hari lalu.
Seorang pesawah, Abd. Rani Baharom ,68, dari Kampung Alor Berala berkata, kejadian banjir tersebut bertambah buruk lagi berikutan sistem pengairan di kawasan sawah tersebut tidak dapat menampung aliran air dari Sungai Padang Kerbau dan Sungai Pendang. “Apa yang menyedihkan pokok padi yang sudah berusia 90 hari dan boleh mula dituai mengalami kerosakan selepas ditenggelami banjir tersebut.
Jamaluddin Mahmud, 65, pula berkata, ramai petani di sini mengeluh kerana punca utama berlakunya banjir di sini kerana masalah pengairan sudah dimaklumkan kepada pihak Lembaga Kemajuan Pertanian Muda tetapi masih belum ada sebarang tindakan diambil.
