JOHOR BAHRU: Presiden MCA, Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong mengakui partin itu perlu bekerja lebih keras bagi membuktikan masih relevan dan mampu menarik sokongan masyarakat termasuk pengundi baharu.
“Sebelum ini ada pihak cakap MCA tidak mampu menarik sokongan masyarakat termasuk golongan profesional dan muda. Jadi dalam Pilihan Raya Negeri Johor ini, kita tampilkan senarai calon yang berkelayakan, calon baharu, muda, profesional dan juga daripada kaum wanita,” katanya dalam sidang akhbar di sini, hari ini.
“Ini adalah perkara biasa apabila melalui proses pengumuman calon, jadi pada hari ini kita umumkan 14 calon dahulu, manakala seorang lagi akan diumumkan esok,” ujarnya.“Daripada 14 orang ini, enam daripadanya berusia 30-an dengan seorang 27 tahun, manakala calon paling senior berusia 60 tahun. Sembilan daripada mereka adalah muka baharu, ini signifikan,” katanya.
