Penganalisis politik Awang Azman Pawi berkata, Najib Razak akan kembali memimpin Umno sekiranya beliau dilepaskan daripada pertuduhan rasuah.
“Bekas ahli Umno itu memburukkan parti lama mereka dan melabelkannya sebagai korup. Justeru sukar bagi akar umbi Umno untuk menerima PPBM sama seperti sukarnya akar umbi PAS untuk menerima Amanah. “Kenyataan terbaru pemimpin Umno bahawa ia akan mempertahankan kerusinya menggambarkan sentimen akar umbi. Umno perlu mendengar suara itu kerana merekalah yang akan menentukan sama ada ia kembali menjadi parti yang dominan,” katanya.
“Sekiranya Najib dilepaskan daripada pertuduhan di mahkamah, beliau hampir pasti akan kembali memimpin Umno,” katanya selain menambah bahawa bekas perdana menteri itu mempunyai sokongan dan jentera yang lebih kuat berbanding Presiden Umno Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
