IPOH: Police arrested four men for allegedly stealing one tonne of oil palm fruits at a collection point in Teluk Intan.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said a security guard at the collection area located in Kg Selabak had called the police at 4am Monday when he saw suspicious looking people entering the area.

ACP Adnan said the guard first saw a man on a motorcycle entering the area, and leaving the place a few minutes later.“Upon checking, the security guard saw a lorry, and several men loading the fruits into the lorry, and he immediately called the police,” he said. ACP Adnan added that about 10 minutes later, the police received another call stating that a lorry had entered another collection centre on Jalan Padang Tembak nearby.

“Based on the information, a police team that was patrolling around the area went to the location, and came across four men behaving in a suspicious manner while loading the fruits into the back of the lorry.“However we tailed them for some distance before detaining them,” he added.The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
