Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state Health Department had submitted the risk analysis report to the Health Ministry to enable the National Security Council to implement MCO in certain areas in the state.
"Among the issues discussed by the state Health Department with the NSC is Penang has recorded a of 20,945 cases as of May 6," said Chow in a statement on Wednesday. "All are red zones with the northeast district recording the highest number of cases in 14 days of 722," said Chow, who added Penang also recorded a high number of new clusters from schools, as well as industrial and construction sectors.
He urged the people to continue observing standard operating procedures to break the chain of transmission.
