Penang in solar power push, to start with Chowrasta Market

GEORGE TOWN, July 24 — Penang is turning to solar energy as part of its green agenda and will install solar panels at public facilities across the state, said exco Jagdeep Singh Deo.

He said the panels will save the city council about RM3,000 each month in energy bills at the site and expected to pay for themselves in about six years.is the first canopy project on the island to provide shade to market-goers and traders along the lane.is built with rainwater harvesting tank and it can collect up to 9,000 litres of water for irrigation and cleaning works,” he said.project was awarded at RM2.
