GEORGE TOWN: The iconic Penang ferries will be out of service for the first time in its history for two days from today, Aug 24.

Rapid ferry head Osman Amir said four ferries which had been plying between the island and mainland will not be in operation due to technical reasons until Aug 26.

"Rapid Ferry had prepared 10 free transit buses from Penang Sentral on the mainland to Weld Quay terminal on the island and vice-versa with a frequency of 10 to 20mins," said Osman in a statement on Monday .Hundreds were stranded on both sides and were late for work this morning when no ferries were in operation.
