Acting North Seberang Prai OCPD Supt Siti Nor Salawati Saad said the suspect was detained by a team from the district police headquarters’ Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department .
He said police conducted a raid in an area in Butterworth where they seized five packs of drugs, believed to be heroin, weighing 2,261.4g and worth about RM18,500 on May 2.Supt Siti Nor Salawati said during the raid, police seized a car believed to belong to the suspect. She said investigations found that the suspect had been active in trafficking the drug since April this year and it was meant for local distribution.
She said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and a check found that he had a prior record in criminal and drug activities.The case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
