KEPUTUSAN Umno memecat dan menggantung keahlian beberapa ahlinya dibuat secara kolektif serta musyawarah demi kepentingan parti semata-mata dan tidak melibatkan kepentingan mana-mana individu, kata Presidennya Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Beliau berkata tindakan itu diputuskan secara bersama demi kemaslahatan Umno kerana sebarang anasir termasuklah anasir dalaman yang berusaha memburuk-burukkan institusi kepimpinan parti, memecah-belahkan atau mengganggu-gugat parti, perlu ditangani sebaik mungkin dengan respons sewajarnya.
