NEW YORK: Angka kematian di Semenanjung Gaza akibat konflik Israel-Hamas sudah melebihi 35,000 orang, namun Kementerian Kesihatan Gaza menyemak semula pecahan kematian tersebut.
Jurucakap PBB, Farhan Haq berkata, angka yang sering disebut oleh PBB dalam laporan konflik selama tujuh bulan itu kini merekodkan 24,686 kematian kerana ‘angka itu sudah dikenal pasti sepenuhnya’. Menurut Haq, angka itu adalah bagi mayat yang dikenal pasti iaitu seramai 7,797 kanak-kanak, 4,959 wanita, 1,924 warga emas dan 10,006 lelaki.
Haq berkata, pasukan PBB di Gaza tidak dapat mengesahkan secara bebas angka yang direkodkan oleh Kementerian Kesihatan Gaza memandangkan serangan yang masih berlanjutan dan jumlah kematian yang tinggi.
