PETALING JAYA: UMT Sailing Team berjaya rangkul kedudukan ketiga dalam siri kejohanan kapal layar 19th Royal Langkawi International Regatta Langkawi 2023 . Pencapaian membanggakan itu diumumkan selepas kumpulan wakil tunggal IPT itu memberi saingan sengit dengan membezakan satu mata daripada pasukan TLDM yang muncul kedudukan kedua secara keseluruhan.
Ketua Pasukan Pelayaran UMT, Naila Nor Hasan berkata pasukannya berjaya memberikan saingan pada kejohanan edisi ke-19 itu walaupun tempoh latihan agak singkat. “Alhamdulillah, strategi dan ilmu pelayaran yang dipelajari berjaya meletakkan kami pada kedudukan ketiga. Ia amat membanggakan kami,” katanya.
Sebelum ini, pasukan pelayaran lelaki UMT berjaya meraih tempat ketiga pada Kejohanan Kapal Layar Antarabangsa di Korea Selatan pada November tahun lalu yang juga merupakan pasukan tunggal dari institusi pengajian tinggi awam menyertai cabaran ini.
