PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said party president Abdul Hadi Awang set the target of 30% young candidates a few years ago.
PETALING JAYA: PAS said only 10% of its candidates for the upcoming six state elections will be youths. The party admitted that it was facing difficulties in meeting its 30% target in fielding young candidates, its youth chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, said.“I don’t think this can be achieved in terms of new faces or young candidates. Ten per cent is still okay,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
However, he said Perikatan Nasional, of which PAS is a component together with Bersatu and Gerakan, was hoping to field many young candidates.Fadhli also said PAS would appeal the Terengganu Election Court’s decision to invalidate Ahmad Amzad Hashim’s victory in the 15th general election after he was found to have been involved in corrupt practices to influence voters.“PAS will file an appeal and obtain a temporary order to retain the before the appeal is taken to the Federal Court,” he said.
