PETALING JAYA: The appointment of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the eighth Prime Minister by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is in full accordance with the Federal Constitution, says Istana Negara.

Dismissing The Guardian’s editorial on March 3 titled “The Guardian view on a royal coup: a king overturns a historic election”, Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said he was appalled by the distorted account given of the process by which the King appointed a new prime minister.

He explained the actual process, beginning by stating that His Majesty was bound by Article 43 of the Federal Constitution to select and appoint a prime minister following the resignation of the prime minister and his Cabinet. In the process of choosing the next prime minister, he said Istana Negara went above and beyond its call of obligation by meeting all the MPs and leaders of the various political parties, prior to His Majesty arriving at any conclusion.“It was only after this rigorous and open process of consultation, fully in accordance with the Federal Constitution, that His Majesty exercised his discretion under the Federal Constitution to appoint a new prime minister.

Istana Negara dismisses The Guardian's 'royal coup' editorial as misleadingThe palace says the editorial presented a distorted account of the process by which the Yang di-Pertuan Agong appoints a new PM. The public must know the official numbers. That's fundamentally why elections are held to choose a Govt. in a democracy. Yes, wasn't the King misled to think YB Muyhiddin had the greater support with 93, when actually 93 didn't support him? DSAI actually had the majority support with 92. This fellow can spin all he wants but fact remains that the whole world is appalled that the decisions announced by the Agong through his PM in this video were hijacked by Pirates MuhyiddinYassin - jezlai chedetofficial MukhrizMahathir SyedSaddiq

Even the politically stupidest person in Malaysia knows what guardian said in its Editorial about this daylight robbery is 100% true. But can you blame reezalmerican72 for defending that treachery? And that's because Reezal Merican is hoping PN will give him a job. jezlai
