SANDAKAN: Pakatan Harapan must work even harder to reach voters here, says Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

“There are grouses and we are aware of this, so we must work doubly hard to bring forward the agenda to create more jobs,” he told reporters at SM Tiong Hua yesterday.

Mohd Shafie said Pakatan’s three-time losing streak should not be compared with Sandakan as the state machinery was working very closely with the Federal Government.“It’s not going to be easy to resolve the people’s grievances, but it is important to have an MP to represent the state and Federal Government.“We are confident that channelling aid to the people of Sabah will be successful with Vivian Wong,” he said.

In urging voters to support Wong, Mohd Shafie said she had been working with her late father as a public relations officer in the Sabah Health and People’s Wellbeing Ministry. “She will be able to help resolve the people’s grouses. I don’t think PBS can do that. They’ve tried for 10 years and failed,” he claimed.

Sandakan, with about 40,000 voters, comprises 51% Chinese and 45% Muslim bumiputra, including Bajaus, Suluks and Orang Sungei.
