Hakim Ahmad Bazli Bahruddin menjatuhkan hukuman itu selepas tertuduh Wan Aizat Azwan Wan Salleh, 33, mengaku bersalah terhadap tuduhan.Mengikut pertuduhan, tertuduh bersama seorang yang masih bebas didakwa merompak sebuah kedai runcit di Taman Nusa Jaza, Mulong dengan parang dan mengambil wang tunai RM1,000 pada jam 11.10 malam, 2 April 2019.
Tertuduh didakwa mengikut Seksyen 395/397 Kanun Keseksaan yang memperuntukkan hukuman penjara maksimum 20 tahun dan sebatan, jika sabit kesalahan. Pendakwaan dikendalikan Timbalan Pendakwa Raya, Abu Arsalnaa Zainal Abidin manakala tertuduh tidak diwakili peguam.Bagaimanapun, Abu Arsalnaa memohon hukuman setimpal dengan mengambil kira tertuduh menggunakan senjata dalam kejadian rompakan itu.
