KLANG: A total of 44 people have been evacuated to temporary relief shelters due to continuous rain that has hit Selangor from 10.30pm on Wednesday (Nov 16) until 5.30am on Thursday (Nov 17).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the 44 flood victims had been moved from their homes in Bangi, Klang, Semenyih and Kajang to the relief centres.

“One of the worst affected areas was Bangi and Kajang. Our men had to evacuate 32 flood victims at 4.12am In Taman Seri Andalas and Kota Raja, eight people had to be moved out while in Kajang three were evacuated and one more was evacuated in Semenyih,” he said. Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari visited various areas in Klang at about 2.45am, and went down to the Pump House 38 at Jalan Tepi Sungai in Klang to see the extent of the flash floods.

“We have activated all government agencies to respond to the flash floods after I had received reports that waters had overflowed and flooded in Shah Alam, KLang and Puchong,” he said. In Klang, floods had affected neighbourhoods of Taman Melawis, Jalan Tengku Kelana, Taman Palm Grove, Taman Chi Liung, Taman Sentosa, Kampung Jawa and Port Klang.
