KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional's Sugut candidate James Ratib says he returned to Umno because no one else could take on Warisan in the constituency.
Speaking to FMT, James said the people of Sugut also wanted him to contest the seat after representing them for two terms. “Reports from all the agencies, including from Umno, find I am a winnable candidate with an 81% win rate. Perhaps this is because of my good record as an Umno leader before.” In the last general election, James won the Sugut state seat on a BN ticket but later defected to Upko to form the state government with Warisan and Pakatan Harapan.
He later quit Upko, along with the party's vice-president Limus Jury, to support the Perikatan Nasional administration.
