JOHOR BARU: A man was killed on the spot when the Toyota Hilux truck driven by him skidded and rammed into a road divider on Monday (Aug 5).

According to Larkin Fire and Rescue Department chief Nazarudin Yuof, the accident happened at the junction of Jalan Besar Skudai and Taman Johor at about 2.16am.

Nazarudin said the Proton Wira was parked along the road side, as the driver, 68-year-old Zakaria Mohd Yasin, was waiting for his family to finish selling food. “The driver of the Toyota Hilux lost control of his truck and hit the rear of the Proton Persona after ramming into the road divider,"he said.

He added that the roof of the Toyota Hilux was badly damaged in the incident, and firefighters took about 10 minutes to extract the victim’s body.
