Beliau menggantikan Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay yang baru-baru ini dilantik sebagai ketua polis negeri Johor. Ketua Polis Negara Abdul Hamid Bador mengesahkan pelantikan Normah kepada akhbar South China Morning Post .
Menurut SCMP, Hamid menyifatkan Normah sebagai “berani, cerdik, sangat berkelayakan dan seorang pegawai yang berpengalaman, berintegriti dan pemimpin yang cemerlang”.
