Parliament will not reconvene so long as the emergency is in force, says the government.

PETALING JAYA: De facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan says the Cabinet will not advise the King to allow Parliament to reconvene during the emergency period until Aug 1. At a press conference today, Takiyuddin said the Palace’s statement last week was to explain that the Cabinet will be the one to advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on when Parliament can sit.

He also said with the King able to enact laws through the emergency ordinance, there was no need for Parliament to meet.
