The health ministry is working with four companies to make online appointments for non-Covid-19 out-patients.

PUTRAJAYA: Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has confirmed there will be no disruptions in the appointments and treatment of non-Covid-19 patients during the movement control order period.“We still have 146 hospitals operating as usual as only seven hospitals are designated for Covid-19 cases,” he said when asked at a press conference.

He said the ministry had referred treatment and surgery cases to hospitals not designated for Covid-19 to avoid disruptions in medical services. Further, to reduce congestion at health clinics during the Covid-19 period, the health ministry had collaborated with four companies to introduce the online appointment system at such places.“This is to avoid having too many people gathering at clinics as we are supposed to practise social distancing.

“This online appointment system also allows patients to choose their preferred appointment slots for treatment.”The health ministry said the system will be implemented in phases, starting with four health clinics in Presint 9, 11, 14 and 18 of Putrajaya, with the collaboration of DoctorOnCall.Subscribe to our newsletter and get news delivered to your mailbox.
