: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern kicked off her Labour Party’s election campaign Saturday riding high in the opinion polls after a successful response to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a country of five million people, New Zealand has had only 22 Covid-19 deaths and it has been 99 days since the last recorded case of infection from an unknown source. “If you had told me then that our launch in 2020 would be in the midst of a global pandemic with our borders closed I would have found that very hard to fathom.”
