SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan’s first Covid-19 mega vaccination centre will begin operations at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia in Nilai near here on June 28, says state health committee chairman S. Veerapan.

He said the Federal Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force had approved the state government’s application for the centre on Friday .

“We were told that we can start giving out 1,500 doses a day from June 28 and this will be increased to 3,000 a day from July 5,” he said. The state government had written to the CITF on Wednesday asking to open the centre to expedite vaccinations in the state. At present, there are eight government vaccination centres in Negri Sembilan with seven more to be opened on June 28 and one on July 5.

Apart from the government-run centres, people are also being vaccinated at 13 health clinics, seven private hospitals and 28 private clinics.
