TANJUNG MALIM: The Pakatan Harapan government was a"gagalkrasi" or failed democracy as it failed in all aspects during its 22 months in power, says Pekan MP Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said that the Pakatan Harapan government sparked the anger of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi by commenting on the Kashmir issue, adding that this led to organisations in India rejecting Malaysian palm oil. It was reported in 2019 that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said that"despite the UN resolution on Jammu and Kashmir, the country has been invaded and occupied" during his speech at the 74th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly. The Solvent Extractor's Association of India then reacted by advising its members not to buy palm oil from Malaysia, taking a cue from protests in New Delhi against Dr Mahathir's remark.
"When I was the Prime Minister, we had many programmes that focus on Indian entrepreneurs, such as vocational training and housing. These were more than promises, they were fulfilled when Barisan was the government," said Najib.
