SEOUL, June 5 — North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles into waters off its east coast today, South Korea's military said, a day after Seoul and Washington completed their first joint drills involving a US aircraft carrier in more than four years.
The launches took place at multiple locations, Tokyo said, adding that Pyongyang had tested missiles at"unprecedently high frequency" this year. Go Myong-hyun, a researcher at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, said Sunday's launch was likely a response to the US-South Korea manoeuvres. US and South Korean officials have warned for weeks that Pyongyang may conduct a seventh nuclear test.
