Pulai Member of Parliament Suhaizan Kaiat has come up with a rather interesting proposal to help cater to the sensitivity of Muslim workers at convenience stores that sell alcoholic beverages.

Posing a question to the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Zulkifli Hasan at the Dewan Rakyat today, Suhaizan said that he was saddened at seeing Muslim cashiers and workers at convenience stores that sell alcoholic beverages in our country. He then asked whether the Federal Government has any mechanisms to allow for these workers to still work at these convenience stores but without having to handle these alcoholic beverages, which is forbidden in Islam.

The Deputy Minister then responded to the query, saying that the Federal Government is always open to any new ideas to help allay the restlessness of the Muslim community. Zulkifli further said that the idea given by the Pakatan Harapan MP is very much appreciated and his Ministry will try to bring the proposal to the relevant levels.
