NSTnation “We are worried if we end up stranded and left to face the high cost of living (in Singapore)' Malaysians Covid19 Lockdown

The electrical sector production assistant said she is determined to leave the republic ahead of measures to be enforced by authorities there on Tuesday to contain the spread of Covid-19.

“Our employer told us that we will not be retrenched, but need to take a month of unpaid leave. That is a long period and besides, I miss my children and husband who are in Johor Baru,” she said when contacted. “However, we were separated following the Movement Control Order in March. I had since stayed put in Singapore,” she said.
