More than 2,000 people still sheltering from floods

Authorities in Perak say more flood shelters were opened yesterday, but nationwide the number of occupants dropped as people returned home. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, November 17, 2022.

In Selangor, the Social Welfare Department said there were 129 people in shelters, compared to 187 earlier in the day. “SK Simpang 5 Darat and Sekolah Agama Simpang 5 Darat, Tangkak, are housing 134 and 108 people respectively,” it said, adding that they were forced to remain at the centres because of the stagnant floodwaters.
