SHAH ALAM: There are 12,281 school-going children who are unable to pursue their education in Selangor, says Amirudin Shari .
Among the secondary school students, 10,094 had stopped school, 549 were not interested in studying, 183 had to go to work, 123 had family problems, 43 had difficulty in going to school, 19 had married, and 11 were frightened to go to school and nine were fraught with poverty, added Amirudin. Mazwan had wanted to know the number of children who were not going to school in Selangor, and the measures taken by the state government to ensure needy students were not left behind academically.
Mazwan also wanted to know if the state government or state education department had any special programmes to help school students from needy families, as well as stateless children.
