The findings suggest that increasing fitness levels may improve cognitive ability, such as memory and problem solving, and lead to improved structural changes in the brain.

11 September 2019

BERLIN, Sept 11 ― New German research has found that engaging in exercise appears to help boost brain structure and functioning even in young adults. The participants were asked to complete a series of cognitive tests which measured memory, sharpness, judgment and reasoning, and were asked to complete a “two-minute walking test” where they had to walk as fast as possible for two minutes to see how much distance they covered.

The researchers say that the findings suggest that increasing fitness levels may improve cognitive ability, such as memory and problem solving, and lead to improved structural changes in the brain.
