THE Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency Kuala Kedah Maritime Zone, foiled an attempt to smuggle two tonnes of ketum leaves to a neighbouring country by sea, in the waters of Kuala Sanglang, Jerlun, last Friday.
Kedah and Perlis Maritime director, Mohd Zawawi Abdullah, said the seizure, at 0.37km from the Sg Kuala Sanglang estuary at 1.50am, was carried out following intelligence work on smuggling activities in the area.
