KLANG: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) seized syabu and ecstasy worth over RM3mil bound for Indonesia in a dramatic incident which saw two shots fired to thwart the smuggling attempt.

MMEA deputy director-general Rear Admiral Kamaruszaman Abu Hassan said a patrol team spotted the suspicious-looking boat south-west of Sungai Kapar Kecil at around 11pm on Sunday .

Rear Admiral Kamaruszaman said the officer fired a warning shot but was ignored by the smugglers who instead attempted to ram the pursuing patrol boat. He said the third suspect, a 24-year-old Indonesian, was believed to be an intermediary for the syndicate in Indonesia.
