PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has urged the government to speed up the allocation of emergency funds and all related aid needed to mitigate the Covid-19 situation in Sabah.

It said that massive financial aid from the government is needed to control the situation in Sabah, or there may be a total collapse of the healthcare system.

He said the delay in the turnover time of testing severely affected the system's ability to trace close contacts of cases, isolating infected individuals and at the same time, preventing the further spread of the infections. Dr Subramaniam said that a significant number of redeployments of medical staff from within the state instead of from other states may not increase Sabah's total healthcare workforce.
