PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie made amends for their early exit in the Korean Open by checking into the quarter-finals of the Korean Masters in Gwangju City yesterday.

The independent pair notched a 21-5, 21-18 win over Misha Zilber-man-Svetlana Zilberman of Israel in the second round in 21 minutes.

On paper, Singapore’s Terry Hee-Tan Wei Han, 22-20, 23-21 winners against South Korean’s Kim Young-hyuk-Kim Hye Jeong, may not be a threat but Shevon is cautious about the possible banana skin awaiting them in the last eight. Soon Huat-Shevon are the only Malaysian pair left in the tournament as three other independent combinations ended their campaign yesterday.
