The govt merely has to enact an emergency ordinance for the power to do so, says lawyer Haniff Khatri.

Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz was wrong to assert that the government has no legal power to compel banks to offer borrowers a blanket moratorium on loan repayments, according to the lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla.

With the state of emergency still in force, Haniff said the government merely has to enact an emergency ordinance that would give it the power to enact the emergency ordinance...

Biasalah orang bodoh bangang.

The pandemic of this failed minister and government is so obvious. We the rakyat have to suffer more. When can we be free of them When

tzafrul_aziz still got a lot of shares in CIMB. How to make the biased call?

Suddenly no power to force. Convenient.

He takes his stand as Banker not minister

Ya but they can closed sme for no cases and open factory which cause so many clusters.

'friends' don't approve. Profit margin small

His correct ,

Its not a question of legal power its a question what type of govt / economic system malaysia is ( i know, i know the crony capitalist issue aside, thats 'memalukan'), malaysia is not a communist country, central govt cant always dictates wht corp, banks, should/shouldnt do

Unless for a crooked one

Ini Finance Minister ada selective amnesia

Fyi, automatic moratorium is right! From financial perspective bank etc not losing but just delayed repayments, they gain back all, in fact benefitting more from compounding effect of added interests of moratorium accumulated onto principal. tzafrul_aziz MuhyiddinYassin

Menteri KeBabian 🐷🐗🐖

Yes! Becoz they themselves said darurat will allow them to force private sectors. Undescended testiculars

Zafrul can't even pronounce the word 'debt' properly (hint: the 'b' is silent). This terminology is ingrained in any finance banking bloke worth his/her salt. You expect him to have a thoughtful discussion on this issue?

The govt can force auto moratorium only if they want. Maybank, CIMB and RHB belong to them. The emergency ordinance is there too. The banks have made profits. Look at govt squeezing Petronas (not a bank tho). What govt actually doing now is giving excuses. Why? KerajaanGagal

The Law Minister in PN Govt comes from PAS. The same person who doesn't give comments in allowing the operation of Brewery by Miti. This time on MoF. No legal ability on Banks to give automatic moratorium. May I know the function of a Law Minister in time Darurat & Health Crisis?

tzafrul_aziz knew it lah. Of coz he knew the govt cud force anything during Darurat. If he'd siphon RM 5B from KWAN, what's moratorium for a few mths? But he desperately needed to say sth to bullshit the ppl. Under this KerajaanGagal everything's BS! It'll remain so till GE15

Hendak seribu daya, tak hendak seribu dalih Nothing is impossible to a willing heart

Our minister they don’t read or learn their trade properly, just ikut feeling je...why you declare darurat if hardly worth anything, since darurat till today nation gone worse..everything U turn, now let’s wait for minister reply ..

Well, he’s just protecting ‘family’. After all, he used to be in that industry previously. KitaJagaKita
